International School Meals Day is an annual holiday observed on the second Thursday of March, and its main purpose is to draw attention to the importance of healthy and balanced diets for schoolchildren around the world. It was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 2000 to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition for students, support educational initiatives and improve children's health.
